A High Stakes Chess Game 03.07.2024

He didn’t know what he got himself into when he sat down with her at the chessboard. He thought it was just another game of chess, just a way to pass the time.

But the game escalated quickly when she wagered for something that only he could give. Life itself was on the line.

This game of chess was no game, but was real, surreal even; with hints of voodoo that stretched to the rivers of Africa; Ma’at knew the consequences of every sequence.

When he met her at the table, he was confident in his skills, or maybe foolish enough to comply with her wild desires. Something about her was enticing. He didn’t hesitate. He allowed his fate to intertwine with hers.

The plays she made had hints of manipulation. She knew her opening moves well; her Machiavellian machinations had him marked since the moment he sat down.

The game was tenuous, she pinned his pieces, but he played her piece for piece. It was a war of attrition. She had the upper hand. She was crafty, but this was also the reason of her demise.

She went in brashly for the final blow to decree his capitulation. However a technicality saved his soul and the life of his offspring. She fell into her own trap.

Fury smoldered in her eyes, she flipped the table over. The pawns were forgotten to oblivion, the knights lost their valor, the bishops begot their wisdom, and the foundation of the castles shook.

But that didn’t change the fact, he still won.
