Tariff. One person says it’s a “beautiful” word,
while the world looks on and thinks he’s absurd.
What happened to globalization and free trade?
Instead, we tax our neighbors and walk isolationist ways.
He wants to play political poker,
placing bets at twenty-five percent.
But who will ante up or fold,
with no relent?
In this precarious game,
it’s the normal people who will fork out the buy-in, or so I’m told.
The spectators wait
to see how things unfold.
He says securing the border,
neighbors gotta do their part,
but will this only ignite a nationalistic spark?
Why does he need to antagonize,
making enemies from friends?
What is the game plan,
and his goal in the end?
